¿De qué es modelo Barcelona? A juzgar por algunos objetos culturales de este cambio de siglo, de la transformación de la ciudad en icono pop. Como Madonna, ha sabido transformarse, desde los años 80, para no perder la conexión con su público glocal. Sus últimas operaciones de cirugía estética se resumieron bajo el eslógan «Barcelona, posa?t guapa», que condujeron en nuestra época al de «La mejor tienda del mundo». Barcelona es una ciudad que en los másters y estudios de publicidad se muestra como ejemplo de ciudad que impulsa la tendencia posmoderna de publicitar sus servicios y su oferta cultural del mismo modo para todos sus consumidores, sean estos turistas o ciudadanos; de hecho, su habitante ideal tal vez sea el provisional, el estudiante Erasmus o de posgrado, el ejecutivo o el profesional que vive la barcelonidad como experiencia temporal, como los protagonistas de Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
Percepción parcelada. Porque el turismo y la provisionalidad implican una percepción sumamente parcelada de la realidad urbana, ajena a la crítica. Una percepción en que el icono (Barcelona) se divide en iconos secundarios (el Parc Güell, el F. C., el Modernismo, la Catedral, la Torre Agbar, la Barceloneta, la vida nocturna, el Tibidabo, el mundo gay), para configurar un collage, un sampleo, una psicogeografía cuyos elementos personales son originales, pero cuyos escenarios y referencias son intercambiables. No es casual que la primera entrega de la colección «Soñando ciudades», de Nórdica Libros, sea Barcelona para niños (2009), de Javier Zabala. El itinerario que propone, según el mapa desplegable incluido, se basa en once iconos, enmarcados por la Diagonal, la Gran Vía, el Paralelo, el Mar y la cuadrícula del Ensanche. Hasta un niño es capaz de entender una ciudad tan fácilmente legible y, por extensión, de tan fácil consumo.
En su imprescindible Postmetrópolis. Estudios críticos sobre las ciudades y las regiones (Traficantes de sueños, 2008), Edward W. Soja traslada la lógica del juego de ordenador SimCity a la ciudad actual y afirma que «los ciudadanos de la ciudad parquetematizada» eligen, «si pueden pagarlo, un lugar simbólico que simula un tema en particular o un paquete de paisajes-imágenes». Soja insiste una y otra vez en Los Ángeles, pero, en el siglo XXI, Barcelona es tal vez un caso de estudio más adecuado.
Cosmopolitismo abarcable. En ella se puede experimentar el cosmopolitismo abarcable, la hibridación ideal entre europeísmo y dieta mediterránea. Es una ciudad de lectura aparentemente sencilla, que se puede recorrer entera a pie, en metro, en bicing. Tanto la película de Woody Allen como Todo sobre mi madre o The Cheetah Girls 2. Strut (in Barcelona) recurren a la amalgama para evidenciar esa legilibidad. Almodóvar encadena secuencias ilógicas del traslado desde Madrid del personaje encarnado por Cecilia Roth: tren, túnel, plano áereo, la Sagrada Familia, el extrarradio transexual. La saga musical de Disney construye, en clave de vídeoclip, una imagen falsificada pero eficaz de la ciudad, a partir de la amalgama de lugares típicos barceloneses y de tópicos de la hispanidad. Lo importante es que la imagen de Barcelona coincida con la expectativa o con el recuerdo, no con la mutación vertiginosa de lo real.
Las películas citadas representan una ciudad luminosa y turística. Pero también Barcelona es sinónimo, en el imaginario glocal, de oscuridad. La SimCity contra la SinCity. Su mejor representante es el vídeo-juego The Wheelman, donde la violencia no tiene que ver sólo con persecuciones automovilísticas, sino también con las tensiones ciudadanas reales, como la mendicidad, la prostitución o las obras. Pero el realismo es generalmente ajeno a la atractiva oscuridad barcelonesa. No es casual que Batman deje Gotham City para venir a Barcelona, ni que lo haga para resolver crímenes. No hay más que mirar la página web de agencias de gestión cultural de la Ciudad Condal -con Itinera e Icono a la cabeza- para percatarse de que las rutas con más demanda son las de La Catedral del Mar y La sombra del viento, es decir, las de una cierta ciudad gótica. No la ciudad realmente gótica, no la Barcelona medieval, sino el centro histórico reconstruido, tematizado en el primer tercio del siglo XX, cuando las dos Exposiciones Universales y la consolidación del escaparate modernista impulsaron la creación tanto de un casco neogótico como de un Pueblo Español, dos museos al aire libre.
De mito a realidad. La ruta por esa antigüedad simulada ha sido trazada por Esther Celma en su capítulo del desmitificador y recomendable volumen Rutas metropolitanas por la nueva Barcelona (MACBA, 2008), donde se dibujan nuevos itinerarios por la metrópolis verdadera, desde el mito del Barrio Chino hasta la realidad de la nueva Barcelona china.
El recorrido por La Rambla -a cargo de Marta Delclós- se titula «La Rambla low-cost» e incide en la devaluación simbólica del patrimonio que implica la afluencia masiva de visitantes. La mayor parte del arte actual que tiene a la capital catalana en su objetivo trabaja precisamente en su revalorización simbólica, a partir de estrategias críticas, más allá del pop. Desde el blog Los Ríos Perdidos hasta el Osservatorio Nomade/Barcelona, pasando por los relatos y los artículos de Quim Monzó, filmes como En construcción o El taxista ful, o el skyline que Joan Fontcuberta construye -a partir de los perfiles de las llaves de los hombres más poderosos de la ciudad- en la pieza dedicada a Barcelona de la serie «Securitas», los frentes se multiplican. Para cuestionar los contenidos más o menos oscuros que se ocultan tras los iconos más o menos luminosos.

Hi everybody!!!
26th may (tuesday) we organize the “the International Day”. Our aid is to group the different international students living in the vila and the students from different autonomic communities inside our country. We will join all the students from the same country and then they could cook their typical food. After that they could offer the food to the people interested in it.
Also we would like that you give information about your country, city and university. The information will be very usefull for the students who are going to exchange next course.
If you are interested in this celebration you only have to send an e-mail to angel.gonzalez@esn-uab.org specifying your name and surname, your flat number and letter, your telephone number and your country.
If you know other internacional students living at vila, please, we will be grateful if you can send us their name, and the same information that you send about you. Then, we could contact with them and invite them to participate.
If you have any problem to find the food that you need to cook, in Barcelona there are a lot of special shops where they sell any ingredient.
Tuesday 26th, we will need your help to put the stands that you will use to show your dishes. If you can help us, you are welcome!
When all the people arrive where we celebrate this day, they will be divided by countries. When all these things will be ready, you could bring your food and drinks!!
If you want to sell your food, you should use small posters with your goods to sell and its price. Don’t give them by free because everything is going to run out very soon. if you want to sell your drinks, you can do it, but don’t write it, only tell it by words.
The organizers will have a stand where we offer you plates, glasses, forks, napkins and also, our traditional sangria and agua de Valencia. You will have some free drinks. If you want more drinks, you will have to pay 0,50 euros per each. People that do not participate this day will pay 1 euro per each.
The activity will start around 17pm and we will finish around 21pm.

Seguro que en Barcelona has vivido experiencias inolvidables, hecho viajes y descubierto lugares preciosos, vivido algunas de las fiestas más locas de tu vida, y lo más importante… has conocido a algunos de los mejores amigos de tu vida y que a pesar de la distancia, nunca dejarán de serlo.

There, we will join thousands of Erasmus from ESN.
PLANNING TRIP
-Wednesday 18th, at 7:00 a.m. we take the bus from BCN (Plaça Catalunya) to Valencia.
-We arrive at 12:00 h. aprox.
-We go directly to the Major's Square, to enjoy at 2:00 p.m. the "MASCLETÀ" with thousand of people. The best show of fireworks, fume and noise never seen before!!!
-After this, get to know Valencia during the rest of the day, because at night…
-We will join thousands of people in Paseo de la Alameda, to enjoy the best annual night of fireworks: LA NIT DEL FOC. When the firework is finished, of course, the party continues on the streets.
-Thursday, 19th March, at 4:00 a.m. approx. we go to the bus to sleep a little as we come back to BCN (arrival at 9:00 a.m. approx.)
HOW TO BOOK A PLACE
You have to pay at any Caixa Catalunya office, account number 2013 0692 84 0202626329.
In the pay in sheet you must tell your full name and the ESN Card number in case you have it. Save the deposit slip.
You must deposit 26 Euros if you have the ESN Card and 28 € if you don't have it.
Once the payment is done, send an e-mail to: trips@esn-uab.org, subject FALLAS, including your full name and your telephone number (this is very important!!!). It's highly important to have all your data so we can send you all the info about the trip!!!
We'll check your payment by the internet and we'll answer your e-mail confirming your place.
When the trip is full we'll send another email with further details.
The last day for paying is when the places run out. We assure you they will. If it happens we will publish it on our websites.
In case you've paid and you don't get your place we'd contact you for asking if you want to be on the waiting list or if you want your money back.
You don't need a Caixa Catalunya account to pay in, neither be paid extras for doing it.

Muchos de vosotros ya saben que en marzo la fiesta a la que no hay que faltar bajo ningún concepto es la fiesta de Las Fallas de Valencia.
Pues si tienes ganas de ir, no puedes perderte este concurso, el premio consiste en dos plazas para un inolvidable viaje a las fallas de Valencia.
Participar es muy simple, solo tienes que enviar a nuestro correo electronico (planeterasmus@gmail.com), el link de un video que describe como viven los erasmus. Premiaremos a los dos videos más originales y mejor montados.

Tuesday 12th
Arrival to Ibiza at 6 a.m. on a bus to the apartment hotel for to check-in.
Apartment hotel with swimming pool and only 100m to the beach. The apartments are for 4 people with its open plan kitchen, bathroom, television and balcony.
Playa de Ses Salines in the afternoon, or guided visit to Dalt vila neighbourhood (human patrimony) and to see the sunset from the castle.
At night: ESN party in a disco near the apartment hotel with 1 long drink included.
Wednesday 13th
At 10 a.m., ESN private boat trip to Formentera, one if the most beautiful island in the world.
Enjoy the best beaches in the Mediterranean Sea and/or discover the spectacular island on a motorbike.
At 6 p.m. return to Ibiza.
At midnight ESN SUMMER SCHOOL PARTY with over 1000 Erasmus and 1 long drink included.
Thursday 14th
At 12 p.m. We'll visit on a boat some of the best beaches of Ibiza, returning at 5 p.m.
At 7 p.m. trip to San Antonio:
- Sunset in front of the Café del Mar.
- Pre Party in front of the beach
- Spectacular private party: ESN WATER PARTY!!! In Disco Es Paradís with almost 2000 Erasmus and 1 long drink included.
Friday 15th
In the morning you can choose between beach or swimming pool for relaxing.
In the afternoon, you can participate in a guided visit or in a boat trip if we couldn't do it earlier.
Night off, although we highly recommend you to go to Pacha Ibiza (entrance will not be included, 22€ if you buy it from a promoter in IBIZA recommended by ESN.
Saturday 16th
At 5 p.m. Trip on a bus to the ESN OPEN AIR PARTY!!! Takes place in an open air complex with 2 different musical areas, swimming pool, foam party, etc. Exclusively for the 2000 ESN Erasmus!!!
Return at midnight.
Sunday 17th
Check-out at 8 a.m. The boat departs at 10 a.m. and arrives to Barcelona at 7 p.m.

Firstly we want to say “Thanks” to all of you who made our last Farewell-Welcome Party such a big success. We hope you had fun and met new Erasmus friends there. We also want to apologize to all the people who could not get inside the disco because was full.
But don’t worry, because next Tuesday, March 3rd, you can join our ESN SCHOOL PARTY!!!
That's why:
-We are having the disco only for the ESN friends.
-From 11 p.m. until midnight, Unlimited Sangria for all of you with the entrance!!!
